돌마 바흐체 궁전(DolmaBahçe Sarayı)
돌마 바흐체 궁전(DolmaBahçe Sarayı)는 프랑스의 베르사유 궁전에 감동을 받은
술탄 압둘메지드 1세(Sultan Abdulmehcit I)의 명에 의해서 지어졌다는 이야기가
있습니다.
돌마바흐체 궁전 은 보스포러스 해협의 유럽측 해안을 따라,
해협정면에 세워진 전장 600미터의 궁전입니다.
56개의 둥근 원기둥과 750개의 캔들이 달린 무게 4.5톤의 거대한 크리스탈 샹드리에로
장식되어 있는 중앙 접견실이 가장 유명하기도 하죠.
또한 정원 한쪽에는 일찌기 궁전에 살던 특권계급층을 위해 세계각처에서 모은
각종 새들을 사육하여 왔습니다.
터키 공화국 건국의 아버지 아타투르크도 1938년 11월 10일에 이곳 돌마바흐체
궁전 에서 서거하였습니다.
(아직도 그가 서거한 집무실의 시계는 그의 사망 시간 9시 5분에 맞추어져 있습니다.
하렘(← 아랍어: حريم harīm)은 이슬람 사회의 부인들이 거처하는 방을 가리키는 명칭으로,
특수한 경우를 제외한 모든 일반 남자의 출입이 금지된 곳이다.
이 명칭은 ‘금지된’, ‘신성한’을 뜻하는 아랍어 ‘하림(حرم, harīm)’이'
터키어풍인 하렘으로 변용되어 비(非)이슬람 국가에 널리 알려지게 된 것이다.
